Profile:
Don Westman is an IBJJF World Champion (both Gi and No-Gi) as well as a Mixed Martial Arts Champion. Don began enjoying the benefits of Jiu Jitsu in 2009. Since then, Don has passionately trained Jiu Jitsu and MMA. Don started Jiu Jitsu, in order to lose weight to win a bet, shortly after Sean Stewart first opened the doors of Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Stapleton and has trained at BJJ Stapleton ever since. The impact of BJJ in his life was so dramatic that Don left his corporate job to become a full time instructor at Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Stapleton. Don now competes, coaches and corners athletes at BJJ Stapleton.
Prior to teaching Jiu Jitsu full time, Don attended Black Hills University in South Dakota, where he was an accomplished football player earning an ROTC Athlete of the Year Award, Wall of Fame and graduated with honors with a double major and a double minor.
Don spent 15 years working in the education field as a teacher and manager at a successful software company where he developed online learning materials. In 2014, Don received his Master’s degree in Advanced Language ESL from Jones International University graduating with Manga Cum Laude honors.
